What Was 2021 Like for a Food Processing Equipment Manufacturer Like Us?

Organizations around the globe, DC Norris included, faced another year of unprecedented challenges in 2021. We anxiously awaited the idea of a new normal, but it seems the new normal is actually continuous adaptation to changing circumstances. Doom and gloom? Not here. Continuous adaptation, even if forced, is quickly proving itself to be one of our business superpowers.

Was 2021 a Good Year to Be a Food Processing Equipment Manufacturer?

It absolutely was. The challenges we faced ranged from labor to shipping to supply chain and yet, despite it all, DC Norris North America grew. And so too, did our parent company, DC Norris, in the United Kingdom. In fact, 2021 marked 50 years in the business of food processing machinery for DC Norris. To mark the milestone, DC Norris rolled out 5 new cook chill innovations, one for each decade in business. The most notable rollout of 2021 was the Cook Quench Chill ‘Adapt’ System – taking sustainability and efficiency to new heights for food processors.

What Were The Biggest Challenges for Food Processing Equipment Manufacturers in 2021?

It’s hard to make a blanket statement about the challenges that the entire industry grappled with in 2021. But a few distinct, seemingly widespread challenges kept us on our toes in 2021. COVID-19 created (enduring) global supply chain problems. Raw material production was forced to slow to protect workers from COVID-19, which added to the existing slowdowns that factories around the globe were experiencing due to proper distancing, isolation, and COVID-19 protocols. And the problems continued to compound for food processing equipment manufacturers as demand reached new heights.

What Were The Highlights for Food Processing Equipment Manufacturers in 2021?

For DC Norris North America, there were many. We proudly welcomed Jack Halligan, our Director of Operations (you can learn more about Jack here), to the team. Our partners in the United Kingdom secured a large project to deliver equipment for the FIFA World Cup. We were able to launch our first ever USA-Made piece of equipment to the market (the CT-1 Sous Vide Cook Tank) and to launch the CT-1 with a 10% cash-back rebate offer. In December, the USDA announced the Food Supply Chain Guaranteed Loan Program which has already begun to help North American food producers take the steps they need to build a stronger food processing and supply chain infrastructure.

Lastly, we were proud to help more manufacturers than ever before in 2021 and we’ve paved the way for continued growth for you in 2022 thanks to our commitment to continuous adaptation to better serve our customers.

We can’t wait to see what 2022 has in store for food processing equipment manufacturers.
